North Node in Gemini — South Node in Sagittarius

Traditionally, the north node in gemini is considered very lucky and powerful.  It indicates you have a fine mind and true friends.  The corresponding Dragon’s Tail in Sagittarius brings over-confidence and the need for caution.

After many lifetimes spent on long journeys or in solitude with nature, you have incarnated to join the rest of the society in the city.  In the past, you were quite wild and not used to striking the kind of bargains with others that urban life demands.   You find it difficult to tame the wanderlust within you and may resist formalities for many, many years.

Others who know you have already recognized your need to do many things at once.  As a carrier of the north node in gemini, you are also loath to take on responsibility, and some people do see you as a flake or perhaps some sort of mountain man who accidentally wandered into the city.  However, the more you try to free yourself from the demands of modern life, the deeper a hole you make.  You are in a mutually beneficial relationship with the other members of society, and the sooner you start to appreciate your friends and neighbors the better.

Though you have wisdom, you don’t know how to share it.  You have so much to say, but words often fail you.  Martin Schulman describes people with the north node in gemini placement as “shouters in the library.”  There is still a part of you that never quite accepts the constraints of civilization.  You need to learn how to communicate appropriately to be understood.  This is why you have such a desire to educate yourself.

While in past lives you lived on your own, in this lifetime you will be dependent on others. Perhaps for your very life.  Circumstances will force you again and again to learn new customs, practice your manners, and try to see the world through the eyes of others.  Though your body might fight you, eventually your mind will win.  The north node in gemini placement means you will become a sophisticated and cultured specimen of your civilization.

If you are too heavily using your South Node, you might find yourself always leery of others curtailing your freedom. Or perhaps you leave when there’s the first sign of trouble lest you get tied down or “bummed out” by something.  You might be sarcastic or arrogant.  Maybe you are uncomfortable around your peers or have a blind faith in academic learning.  Or maybe you get along with others, but only by relating to them as their teacher or guide.

Good antidotes for balancing such Sagittarius energy include keeping a dairy, taking shorter trips, and any activity that emphasizes manual dexterity and agility.  Fencing, dancing, tennis, and golf are all sports you’re likely to enjoy.

Recommended careers for the north node in gemini placement are journalism, work in the media, short story writing, linguistics, and flying.  Above all, stay away from repetitive and boring tasks.  These will bring out the worst in you.  Seek out positions that call for adaptation, but avoid creating a life situation where you jump from job to job without developing a career.

You came into this lifetime with a great deal of truth and spiritual knowledge to share. This is learning you accumulated over lifetimes of study and developing your intuition.  Now you must must learn how to spread the “gospel” as you see it.  You will either be loved or reviled by those you reach with your message.  It’s not easy task. Some of the most controversial figures of our time show just how divisive north node in gemini can make a person.  Ariel Sharon, Oliver Stone, Che Guevera, George Bush, Andy Warhol, O.J.Simpson, Salman Rushdie, Camile Paglia, Dr. Ruth, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Bertrand Russell all have north node in gemini.  Like them, you must learn to join the society of man, exchange information with your peers, and broadcast your higher truth, creating admirers and critics as you do, but mostly making friends.

Humpf – I don’t want to read this, I want to go off to the woods! 🙂 really and truly I’ve spent so much energy, time and resources trying to see it from other people’s perspectives, I think for me it’s important to say my truth/s now, not overly accommodate/keep on learning too much – though goodness knows I love learning.
I’m into my 50s and still struggling with the not jumping from thing to thing but I think I only jump when I’ve given my best and its time for them to learn their bit. Much/all of this resonates, although I’m sure one needs to interpret within the context of the whole chart. I assume you’d agree. I would value some insight on that.

Many thanks for making this post available to the world! xxX (speaking perhaps too strongly from my Sagittarian south node) 🙂 ) I do consider that what I need to do – as ever – is speak & develop my truths while not getting too bogged down in just propping up others. ps I’m working on that communicating properly (in various modes) in order to be understood. Lots of useful tips here – thank you.

Of course you need to take the whole chart into account. Saturn, especially, as ruler of life lessons is so important and can really dictate a lot of one’s life’s lessons and challenges.

  2. Oh, just thought of something. The stress of the boring, repetitive was counteracted by getting active in nature. Not in competitive sports, but in nature activity and usually on my own. Restorative. It helped a lot to keep me on the straight and narrow. If that helps.
It’s definitely not natural to lock yourself into boring and repetitive with Gemini NN but if you can create on the side, on your own time, privately, that helps – art, active outdoors, etc.

  3. Well, this resonates for sure. Gemini NN but for me in 12th house. This bit of advice above I agree with a bit but on the other hand it saved me so sharing…

Written above “Above all, stay away from repetitive and boring tasks. These will bring out the worst in you.” – I studied finance at university and worked as a corporate finance lead. It brought out the best in me and actually provided financial security I needed. Plus prevented that aimless wandering mentioned above.

I definitely wanted to do the play, have fun, joie de vivre thing but life had other things in store and I had to survive fast. It was decided in my teens there was no escaping this so I went against that one bit above. It has made all the difference.

I’m only saying this not to say you’re wrong – I don’t think you are at all, this site is excellent. I just offer my life experience (over 50 yrs old now) as example of sometimes needing to read more than the nodes in the chart. For instance, my mercury has nothing but squares. My chart matches a famous singer, born on same day, opposite coasts but same country. Singer has great success, easy, happy life. Mine has been anything but 🙂

So just sharing as info in case it helps anyone. Honestly I think all my mercury squares helped because most of my life I stayed mute and just took in what everyone else was teaching by word or example. Shudder to think what might have happened had I used my mouth more. Finance jobs have their perks. You don’t talk a lot and it keeps you to yourself 🙂

Hi I’m a North node gemini.just learned this, and many does it explain alot. However I’ve read that there is a “house” involved for example “north node gemini of the 1rst, 2nd or 3rd house etc. I’m trying to find out what house I belong to. D.o.b. 9-30-83.

    • In order to know what house your N. Node falls into, you must know your time and place of birth. The houses shift every couple of hours, so the only way to pin point the position of the houses is by knowing the time of birth. I hope this helps!

  5. Hi Celestina.

Thanks for an interesting article. What about NN in gemini in 9th house? It’s quiet opposite energy. What career and aim could you recommend?

    Thanks in advance

  6. Hi Celestina.

Thanks for an interesting article. What about NN in gemini in 9th house? I am not sure how to interpret it, 9th house and gemini are quite opposite. What career whould you recommend?

    Thanks in advance

  7. Hey Celestina, you can add Donald Trump to North Node in Gemini people. Man doesn’t that say it all.

  8. Hi, very interesting.
I have the same configuration as Isar.

NN gemini in the 1st house.

Would love to know what you think of this as the house and the sign placements contradict each other.
    Thank you!

  9. Hello.I have a question:i have NN in gemini on the first house and i don’t know what interpretation to take because it’s a small contradiction in those interpretations. In first house its said i lived being dependent on others and in gemini NN its said i lived more in a lonely fashion. Its may have lived financial to others and retired at the same time?Really want to know your opinion of NN in gemini in the first house.I must say i was born on country and like to live here and less to the city. Also time past, find myself alone on 32 years and having access on all kind of informations over the internet(my virgo sun helping me here as well). Thanks in advance!

  10. Hello, Celestina! I’m from Mexico, City.
I’m so grateful for what you do. You do know what you’re talking about. I have my NN in 9th House in Gemini; and I saw myself in what you described and explained. When I did the tests I got 9 points in the one about North Node in 9th House, and scored 10 in the one about North Node in Gemini; and if I did well in those it’s because it was easy for me to see myself in your words. You do know what you’re talking about.
THANK YOU. I’m so grateful for what you know and share.

  11. Hi! Thank you for this article. I am a bit confused as to my north node placement. My north node is True North Node 5°05′ Gemini, in House IV. On the birth chart, it looks as though it’s almost in the 5th house. I’m not sure what to make of it. Also, I don’t really like my node in the 4th house personally lol. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  12. very acurrate and detailed discription. I have north node in 11th in gemini but this sign is intercepted as well as sagittarius. does this affect the nodes or just the planets? communication is a problem for me. I can’t find the way to release that energy

  13. My north node is in the 7th house, but is 2 degrees away from the cusp of the 8th house. The astrological books, in which I have most confidence, say that something up to 9 degrees away from the cusp of a house, should be considered to be in that house. What is your opinion on the matter? Would some mixture of influences be possible?

    • CelestinaJune 6, 2016 at 2:24 pm

It’s tricky with the houses. In the case you are describing, you might find that using another house system puts the planet in the 8th, so it’s definitely a matter of interpretation. With signs, we generally say that the earliest degrees have the most pronounced traits with the last degrees being more mild, so that lends weight to your idea of a mixture of influences. On the other hand, houses are not signs exactly. The houses demarcate the areas where the planet is exerting its influence in your life, so theoretically speaking it should be true that one house fits best. I would pick one house that seems to make the most sense — cast the chart using a few different house systems and see what fits best — and stick with that.

  14. Hi, I’m very impressed with what I’ve read here. I have nn gemini (seventh house)and I’m now focusing on writing more than ever before – even with a bit of success. It was also very insightful reading about aquarius north node/ leo south node “eating their young”! My father has that and I avoid him sometimes to avoid being swallowed 🙂 Thank you

    • CelestinaJune 6, 2016 at 2:26 pm

It’s hard for those South Node in Leo people to give up some space, but then they’ll turn around and do it at the most amazing times, too. Good luck with the writing!

  15. I have NN in Gemini (10th.) This is incredibly accurate and is almost a step-by-step outline of my life thus far.

It IS indeed a struggle. Thank you for this perspective.

  16. Gosh Fraya what an unpleasant aggressive soul you are! As someone with the north node in Gemini I’m very impressed by the accuracy of this description. Have you got PMS lol? May I suggest you first get to the truth and light yourself before posting nasty comments about those who are clearly already there.

  17. How does this combine with north node being in 1st house? Seems incompatible.

  18. This information is sparse, negative, and ridiculous. Inflated hubris is your “professional occult wisdom”. It is painfully obvious you are far from the truth and the light. Great job, person-who-missed-the-stars.

  19. Typo diary you wrote dairy
